The Challengers from Beyond (2014)

Available only via Arkham Bazaar

“In 1935, H.P. Lovecraft wrote a famous round robin story with 4 other authors, called “The Challenge From Beyond.” When C.L. Moore, A Merritt, H.P. Lovecraft, Robert E. Howard, and Frank Belknap Long were finished, they had a singular plot written in each of their distinct styles.

To coincide with the 2014 H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival & CthulhuCon Kickstarter, we asked Molly Tanzer, Joseph S. Pulver, Sr., Wilum Pugmire, Ross E. Lockhart, Silvia Moreno-Garcia, Nick Mamatas, Cody Goodfellow, and Pete Rawlik to participate in “The Challenge From Beyond 2014,” a Round Robin storytelling project much like H.P. Lovecraft’s. The finished story was published in a special edition hardcover souvenir book for our Kickstarter backers, with cover artwork by Mike Dubisch, and interior art by Allen K. and Nick “The Hat” Gucker, and published by CreepyCult. The “distressed” appearance of the cover is an effect produced by scanning 1973 printings of At The Mountains of Madness and Tales of The Cthulhu Mythos (the book itself is not actually distressed). Approx. 5×7 inches, 40 pages.

This handsome book was limited to 200 copies, with most of them going to select Kickstarter backers and contributors, leaving less than 50 for retail sale. This book will not be reprinted, so when they’re gone, they’re gone!”
